Looking back on Week 11

This week has been so interesting because Mikael developing DAILY!!! :) He is changing so much- learning and taking in all that he sees and hears!
Mikael started showing a different sleeping pattern this week, he is MUCH more awake and sleeps less. This is super fun as we get more "playtime" with him :)
Grandma Marty and Grandpa Roy spent Saturday with us and Mikael enjoyed his time with them so much! He enjoyed being held and loved by them and he also enjoyed staring at their glasses- he had never seen those before :) Uncle Steve and Aunty Glenda also came to visit this week from Nikoliev and it was SO wonderful to see them as well!!! :)
Mikael also started drooling this week! How fun! :) He has also been smiling SOOOO much more and even giggles!!! Oh so cute!!!! He is also talking TONS and enjoys playing "I spy with my little eye..." with pappa :)
Mamma had a sad yet exciting moment this week. Mikael has outgrown all his 0-3 month clothes and mamma had to pack them all away :( BUT the fun part was getting out the "new" 3-6 month clothes and dressing him up :) It is exciting to see him grow so fast, but mamma's heart is also sad at the same time. He will never be so little again!
On Friday Mikael attended his first thanksgiving dinner!!! It was the first time that he was surrounded by so many new faces, and he LOVED it!! There were three little kids there as well. Mikael and them just had a ball. Mikael of course did not want to sleep with all the action and new things going on so when we got home, actually as we placed him in his carry bag, he just passed out :)
How much we have to be thankful for!! Mikael has come such a long way, he is growing and learning, he is HEALTHY!!!! HE IS HERE!!!! Praise the Lord for all the precious gifts that He has given us!!!!
AND we are praising the Lord for next week Friday, as Oupa Inus and Ouma Naomi are arriving!!! YIPPPEEEEEE, we just can't wait!!!!!

Looking back on Week 10

Wow, mamma and pappa can't believe that yet another week has just flown by!
Mikael has done so well this week and we are so proud of him! He has had quiet a week!
On Tuesday we went to the children's hospital about a block away from our place to meet our doctor :) She was very nice and enjoyed the time with Mikael. Mikael also enjoyed her! Praise the Lord! The exciting thing is that Mikael has put on more weight and is really growing at quiet a rate! :) He now weights 6.500kg and is 62cm long! He has grown a full 10cm since his birth! The doctor said that he is the size of a three and a half month old baby :)
Mikael has been MUCH more attentive this week. We can see that he is really studying us with his eyes, especially our faces. On Monday he was just staring at mamma's smile for a long time and then out of no where he gave mamma about 9 smiles back :) It was AMAZING!!! :) He is also following his rattle around with his eyes and is grabbing on to anything that is lying close to him. :)
Mikael's "adopted" grandma Marty and Grandpa Roy came to visit this week! They are just such a blessing to us three and they LOVED holding and loving on little Mikael! :) While Grandma Marty was visiting us, she noticed that Mikael was talking!! :) And here we were thinking that he was just crying in a different way, so Mikael has actually been talking for a while!!! :)
This week has been hard though as Mikael has REALLY been struggling with gasses/digestive issues. The doctor did give us some herbal medicine to give him and it worked and helped him, but the gasses just came back after every feeding :( He is doing better at the end of the week. Mamma and pappa hope that next week will be easier for little Mikael.

Looking back on Week 9

This week we had a fun week! We were able to go for many walks outside because the weather has been great (7-13 degrees C), and not as cold as the week before. This next week should be even "warmer", yippeee :)
Mikael has been doing super well. On Tuesday night he slept for four hours straight during the night!!! The next morning mommy felt as if she was in seventh heaven! It's amazing what an extra hour of sleep does! :)
He did have a hard time with gasses this week though :( So you can be praying for him about that, and for us to know how to best help him.
He has been more awake as well during the day and has been "following" us more with his eyes as we talk and sing to him. He is trying to communicate more with us, with his hands, arms, and cries but no "baby talk" yet.
Mikael has also been smiling some more, even though over all he is very serious. Some things that made him smile this week were his Star Roar Book, (thank you Auntie Marieke!), his mommy, his daddy, and his lion teddy bear.
We also had some more visitors join us on our walks. Dasha walked and pushed Mikael one day and Auntie Patti walked with us the next day.

Looking back on Week 8

This week, we came home from Uzhgorod!!! The train ride from Uzhgorod was long, 19 hours, but Mikael slept really well. He enjoyed the constant rocking :)
He is enjoying being home. He is enjoying his "big bed". He still loves cuddling with his mamma and he loves going on his nightly walks in pappa's arms :)
He is just such an amazing blessing to us.
This week he has also been more awake- for about an hour after he has eaten. Thankfully this only happens during the day time. He LOVES sleeping at night and last night was the first night that he only got up once between 12am and 6am. (Usually it has been two to three times.)
He is smiling more and more everyday now too. He is also pushing and holding up his head more and more. Mamma tried to take a photo of him in action, but the camera delay missed it every time.
